P229 is a compact variant of the P226 Series developed in 1990s. Its design was based on the P228, also the compact version of P226 which using 9x19mm ammo only, P229 was designed to use serval ammos like .40 S&W, .357 SIG and 9X19mm as well. Like F228, F229 also comes with a railed version (P229R) and share the same magazine of P228 (9mm ammo only) and also can share P226's magazine as well.
