Description

AS VAL (Russian: Автомат Специальный Вал, Avtomat Special'nyj Val, meaning Special Automatic Rifle), codenamed Shaft, is a Soviet-designed silenced assault rifle with an integrated suppressor. It was adopted by the Soviet Army and the KGB in 1987. It fires the heavier 9 x 39mm SP-6 subsonic ammunition (high-performance armor-piercing round), as well as the 9 x 39mm SP-5 subsonic ammunition used by the VSS Vintorez. 70% of its parts are interchangeable with the VSS rifle.
