Shotguns from the 1860s, the setting for Westerns, predominantly had a design where the number of barrels matched the number of rounds. Later, repeating shotguns, capable of repeated firing with a single barrel, appeared. A prime example is the M1897, designed by the master firearms designer John M. Browning. Its innovative design, featuring a pump-action mechanism, external hammer, and tubular magazine, also achieved cost reduction by keeping the finish within a practical range. Widely adopted by police and military forces, the Riot riot gun proved its effectiveness during trench warfare in World War I.
While civilian versions primarily featured 30-inch barrels for hunting, 20-inch barrel models were also manufactured for law enforcement. This is the "Riot model."
This time, we've created a model inspired by the Riot guns with sling swivels used by the protagonists in Sam Peckinpah's masterpiece film "The Wild Bunch" (1969), often considered the last Western and still highly acclaimed.
The four protagonists use it in various scenes, but the specifications differ from scene to scene. However, we've based this model on the one used by "Lyle," one of the protagonists, in the famous final battle against the Mexican army. Since only the position of the front sling swivel differs, it's possible to recreate "Dutch's" model by loosening and adjusting the position.
This model is a heavy-weight version, approximately 500g heavier than the ABS model. This eliminates the flexibility inherent in resin, achieving a rigidity closer to that of a real firearm. The surface features a coarse blast finish on the heavy-weight resin, further enhancing its texture. The wooden stock and fore-end feature a special finish that replicates a well-worn look.
Furthermore, the Ver.2 version boasts improved functionality. It achieves a piercing roar and stable firing thanks to its parallel double-cap primer system. The dynamic action of the carrier retrieving the shell simultaneously with the bolt's recoil, combined with the metallic sound, exudes an addictive charm. Once you hold it, you'll be captivated by its power.
Why not pick this up while watching a movie and immerse yourself in the aesthetics of the downfall of outlaws left behind by the tides of time?
